Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about ChainMates
How do I make a prediction?
Create a Prediction (we call it a 'Chain') with a question and outcomes—like 'Will it rain this weekend?' with Yes/No. Set a closing time, invite your friends to the group, and they'll make their predictions too. Once the outcome is decided, it gets recorded on-chain.
How are Chain outcomes decided?
The person who created the Prediction acts as the referee—they decide the outcome based on what actually happened. Once they call it, the group votes to confirm (majority rules). Everything is recorded on-chain so no one can dispute the result later.
What if we disagree on the outcome?
Good question. The group votes to confirm the outcome after the creator calls it. If most of the group agrees, it's settled on-chain. If there's real disagreement, the group can decide together how to resolve it—that's the whole point of friend groups, you work it out.
What if a prediction is never resolved?
If no one settles it within 48 hours of closing, any two group members can mark it expired. Predictions that expire don't count on anyone's record—no penalties, it just doesn't count. You move on to the next Prediction.
Is ChainMates free?
Yes. Every group gets free access with up to 10 active predictions per month. That's enough for most friend groups to play indefinitely. Want more? Upgrade to ChainMates Pro for unlimited predictions—just a one-time fee per group, not per user.
What's ChainMates Pro?
Pro unlocks unlimited predictions plus premium features: create private tournaments and competitions, set up 1v1 rivalries with lifetime records, get AI-generated group roasts and commentary, unlock detailed analytics on your prediction accuracy, and advanced challenge creation. It's one payment per group, shared across all members—no per-user fees or subscriptions.
How do groups work?
Groups are friend circles—each group has its own Predictions and leaderboard. You can create a group, invite friends with invite codes, and only group members can see and join Predictions in that group.
